There are several potential sources of funding for business start-ups in the local area. The Get Started Team has had much success in helping local people to obtain Start-Up Loans from the Government’s scheme. There are also funds available from High Street banks. The first workshop today explores the different types of funding and the likely application process.

Bookkeeping can often be an afterthought when you are working hard in your business, something saved for when the work is over. But, keeping accurate records is essential, both to provide you with vital management information and to enable you to meet your commitments to HMRC. Tax is going digital and there are now many apps and much software that can help make accurate record keeping much less of a chore. The second workshop covers the essentials of bookkeeping, digital accounting software and management information.

There will also be plenty of time to talk with our Business Advisers about your business and your finances.

In the early evening, after all that information, why not join us for some light refreshment and meet some successful local business people talking about their business journey

Martin Dennison - M D Handyman (started in 2014)
Wanted to be his own boss – worked locally for many years and had lots of skills that meant handyman services was the obvious option. Has been busy ever since!

Pawel Golebiewski – PMG Multi Services (started in 2019)
Worked for various companies in cleaning roles – including big supermarket chains. Absolutely dedicated to delivering the highest standards and very proud of the results achieved. Following lots of changes at work that meant he couldn’t possibly keep up his own very high standards because of shift changes and hours being cut on projects. Pawel decided to go it alone and take his services to people that really would appreciate his commitment.
