Blackpool’s University Centre is a Fairtrade College with a dedicated Sustainability Officer and a College-wide car share scheme. They have also recently signed up to the ‘Green Colleges Declaration’ – they really are a College committed to being green.
The new University Centre, with initiatives such as pro-cycling facilities and a rainwater harvesting system, means that they have achieved a nationally recognised ‘Excellent’ rating for sustainable design and environmental performance. They even have Lancashire’s first reverse-vend recycling machine.
