Toast to new contract!

A popular Blackpool cafe will be dishing out an extra 40,000 meals over the next three years after winning a lucrative Masonic contract. And the owners of cafe bar and grill Toast, in Corporation Street, Blackpool, say the estimated 13,000 meals a year for Blackpool Masonic Hall will consolidate jobs at the business, and create more in the future.
Mike Gibson, Toast general manager, said: “It’s a very prestigious organisation. The Masonic season really starts after Blackpool’s season has finished so it will make staffing easier as we fulfil this significant six-figure contract. It will also give us huge exposure to a lucrative new market – professional people who perhaps aren’t already our customers. It’s good a local firm will keep revenue in the area.”
The Masonic Hall, based in Adelaide Street, plays host to the Blackpool group of lodges, and alongside banquets, meals are sold every night to visiting members. Masonic Club secretary Tom Inman “We put a contract out to tender for the next three years and we had 16 expressions of interest which we whittled down to six for interview. At the end of a quite detailed process, Toast were the winning bid. We supply banquet-style meals here – a lot of them. That’s 8,000 to 8,500 meals alone.”
Mr Gibson said that the use of local produce helped win the contract, which would help the business further its links with Blackpool and the Fylde College’s food service.
