Success on a plate

A Blackpool food company has served up its own success story - by selling ready-made meals to France!

Laila's Fine Foods, which operates from a new £3.4m plant on Faraday Way, Bispham, produces a range of cuisine from around the world and exports to a number of European countries.

Now the company has secured an order to supply a range of ready-made meals to Carrefour, the French hypermarket chain.

The expansion into this new market has set a new challenge for the Laila's team to find chefs who are passionate about producing food for the French.

Nazir Remtuella, executive director for Laila's, said: "Our European market is setting challenges to develop and produce superb meals.

"Blackpool has a tradition of feeding thousands of people daily. We are following that tradition, but in our case it's not visitors - we are exporting our meals all across the Continent and now even to France."

Laila's employs over 50 staff producing some 20,000 meals daily, available in high street stores, pubs and quality restaurants.
