Saving money through energy efficiency
More than 30 Blackpool businesses attended an energy efficiency event to help them reduce costs and improve bottom line profits.
The businesses, all based in the visitor accommodation/hotel sector, were encouraged to put together their own action plans to deliver savings within their own premises.
Each was offered a free one-to-one consultation by the Lancashire Business Environment Association (|LBEA), which organised the workshop at the Imperial Hotel in association with Blackpool Business Leadership Group and BlackpoolUnlimited.com.
Areas covered in the workshop included water consumption; insulation and heating; gas and electricity usage; and waste management.
Participants were also offered advice on how to motivate staff to join in the energy saving schemes, as well as letting guests know how they can contribute.
Since January 2006, the LBEA has helped 165 businesses in Lancashire save a combined total of over £5m per year.
