The first company to take up occupation of Blackpool’s most contemporary office space – eighty-one central - has been revealed as Barcadia Media Ltd, an expanding local business.

A £700,000 investment has transformed the former vacant upper floors into twelve superbly designed business suites with associated meeting and informal reception areas.

Barcadia Media Ltd was formed in 2009 by friends James Lucas and Andy Shields, and now employs seven people.  They specialise in business to business marketing campaigns, and are well respected in the UK finance industry having recently won a national  award; with a string of blue-chip clients including Norton Finance, News International, Morrison’s, Tomy and more.  They even have a fleet of buses to assist in some of their national marketing campaigns!

Partner Andy Shields said:

“Over the last three years we have managed to grow the business from our base at FYCreatives on Church Street and are now ready to take the next step.   It’s exciting times and we feel fortunate to be the first to move into this fantastic new business centre which is ideal for our needs.”

Welcoming them to the new centre were Fiona Dransfield, Blackpool Council’s Creative industries Development Officer, and Cllr Gary Coleman, Blackpool Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration

Cllr Coleman said:-

“It’s  a real pleasure to be able to welcome a growing and highly creative company to eighty-one central, the Council’s latest investment to provide high quality office space for small and medium sized businesses  in the heart of the town centre.

We will continue to do all that we can to work with local companies who are capable of growth and able to create high quality jobs for our community.  It shows that you don’t always need to be in
London or Manchester to achieve success in the creative industries.”

eighty-one central overlooks the rejuvenated St John’s Square,  and includes some fascinating contemporary design features, which have to be seen to be appreciated, including a forest canopy, hunting lodge and library concept, ideally suited to creative businesses where a stimulating environment counts.

The redevelopment has been funded by a combination of external funding including the North West Development Agency, European Regional Development Fund, the Homes and Communities Agency and the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative.

It’s sister facility, FYCreatives is the first business centre on the Fylde Coast dedicated to the needs of creative industries (digital, design, media and the arts) and offers a good choice of
smaller office units and on-site business support.
